Housekeeping Tricks for Pet Owners

ORLANDO. (Ivanhoe Newswire) — We all love our pets, but we hate the messes and destruction they can leave behind. If you want to get your pet to stop scratching the furniture, put double-sided tape on any spots they tend to scratch. They hate the way it sticks to their fur. Here’s more housekeeping tricks for pet owners.

When it comes to having a pet there’s one thing that cannot be avoided: the fur!

Yes, lint rollers will do the trick, but so will a simple yellow dishwashing glove. Pop one on and sweep your hand over the area that needs to “de-fuzz.” Use your fingertips to get into hard to reach areas. Baby wipes also work well to remove hair from fabrics.

To train your pets to stay off furniture, place plastic carpet protectors, prickly side up, on their favorite perch. The plastic teeth will train your pet to associate the area with being “uncomfortable.” For cats, you can lay down a sheet of aluminum foil. The feel and sound of it drives them nuts.

Finally, over-bathing your dog isn’t good for their skin, so try this “dry bath” to keep them smelling fresh. First, brush their coat to loosen dirt and dead fur. Then, use a solution of half apple cider vinegar, half water to spritz a towel and rub your pet down. Finally, rub baking soda into their fur; let it sit for a minute then brush it off.

A quick clean up trick for pet bowls: if your pet’s diet won’t be affected, spray a light mist of low-fat cooking spray into the bowl and it’ll make it so much easier to wash and clean up.
