Five Steps to a Happier You

ORLANDO, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) — How happy are you? According to one national poll, only 33 percent of Americans surveyed said they were happy in 2017.  But there are ways to improve your level of happiness.

Everyone wants to be happy. But just how happy are you?

Turns out there are some things happy people do, and you can too. First, surround yourself with loved ones. People who spend about six hours a day with family and friends are 12 times more likely to report feeling joyful rather than stressed or anxious. Next: make a lot of friends. One British survey found adults who have regular contact with ten or more friends were significantly happier. Making the right amount of money can also make you happier. A Princeton University study found that a $75,000 a year salary is the magic number for peak happiness. Some of the happiest people also have pets! One study found pets increase self-esteem and also bring a deeper meaning to your life. The last key to happiness: not thinking about it! One study found people who focus on trying to be happy are actually less happy.

Could the amount of sex you have also affect your happiness? A University of Colorado Boulder study found people were 55 percent more likely to report higher levels of happiness when they had sex two to three times a week.
