ORLANDO, Fla. (Orlando Newswire) — The next time your feet get blisters after a long day in painful shoes grab the Listerine. Pour it on a cotton ball and dab it on your blisters three times a day. The classic breath freshener will dry them out and relieve the pain. Here are some more natural home remedies to get you feeling better, faster.

It doesn’t just keep the doctor away, biting into an apple scrubs the surface of the teeth and removes stains. Fruits like apples and strawberries contain malic acid which helps whiten the enamel.

But what good is a perfect smile if it smells bad? Freshen up bad breath by gargling with lemon juice, then eating a few tablespoons of plain unsweetened yogurt. It contains probiotics that fight the bad-smelling bacteria.

And speaking of bad-smelling, get rid of stinky foot odor by soaking a washcloth with vodka and rubbing your feet. It dries out odor-causing fungus and bacteria. You can also use rubbing alcohol.

If you’re feeling nauseous many studies point to the stomach-settling effects of ginger. But if you’re already on the verge of vomiting, douse a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and take a few deep breaths. This was found to reduce nausea in hospital patients by 50 percent.

And finally, if you feel a tension headache coming on it’s probably because you’re clenching your jaw. Put a pencil or pen between your teeth but don’t bite down. This forces you to relax your jaw which can prevent pain.

When you get in your car do you find yourself getting road rage? Then chew a piece of peppermint or cinnamon gum. In a NASA-funded study of simulated driving scenarios, drivers reported that peppermint lowered their fatigue and anxiety by 20 percent. And cinnamon decreased their frustration by 25 percent. Both scents made the ride seem 30 percent shorter.
