¿Mas Sueño = Menos Obesidad?

ORLANDO, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) — Todos sabemos lo importante que es el que los niños duerman lo suficente. ¿Pero sabian que la falta de sueño esta vinculada a un aumento en un 80 por ciento del riesgo de obesidad infantil? Hoy la ciencia entiende mejor por que  el dormir menos puede hacer que sus hijos esten menos activos.

¿Sus hijo hacen mas esto que esto? Segun un nuevo informe, el dormir lo suficiente puede ser clave para que los niños se mantengan activos. Los expertos estudiaron a 37 familias con hijos entre los ocho y los 11 años de edad que generalmente dormian unas 9 horas y media cada noche. Les pidieron a los niños que se fueran a dormir mas tarde y usaran unos relojes que miden el nivel de actividad.

El estudio demostro que cuando los niños se acostaron una hora y media mas tarde de lo normal al dia siguiente pasaban mas tiempo viendo la television y menos tiempo en alguna actividad fisica, un patron que se repitio cada media hora del dia. Este letargo puede contribuir al aumento de peso y desembocar en obsesidad. Un 58 por ciento de los alumnos de la escuela intermedia y un 78 por ciento de estudiantes de bachillerato no duermen lo suficiente. En conclusion, dormir bien es el mejor aliado para una vida activa y saludable.

Segun la academia americana de pediatria, los adolescentes deberian de dormir entre 8 y 10 horas cada noche, y los niños entre los 6 y los doce años de 9 a doce horas.
