1 tablespoon lard (or vegetable shortening if preferred)
1 teaspoon salt
wax paper or plastic wrap
Directions: Before starting, masa and lard (or shortening) should be at room temperature. Mix together masa, salt and lard. The mixture should not be sticky. Form 2-inch balls and press balls in a tortilla press or roll out between two pieces of wax paper (or plastic wrap). On a hot griddle or skillet, brown each side for 20 to 30 seconds or until the tortilla appears "dry" on top.
