Chef's Corner: Mexican Fiesta -- Smart Recipe

Enchilada Gravy

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons red chile powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or garlic salt
  • 2 cups cold water

Directions: Melt shortening in skillet, add flour and brown lightly. Add spices and cold water. Simmer slowly until gravy thickens.
