Iron Supplements Benefits Anemic Children
(Ivanhoe Newswire) – A study finds that children with iron deficiencies may benefit mentally and physically from supplementation.
The world-wide study included 7,089 anemic children in low and middle-income countries, and included a group of children who received an iron supplement and a control group. The results showed that children who received an iron supplement had an increased cognitive level than the children that did not receive the supplement. The study also showed that children who received an iron supplement had higher IQ scores, they were taller in height, and they weighed more than the control group.
